First Grade Heads To The Aquarium

On Monday, the first grade had our big field trip to the TN Aquarium. We got an early start and despite the rough weather the night before, the day turned out beautifully!
The kids were very well behaved and I got to catch up with Sarge Marge on the bus ride and over lunch. Since every child had a parent with them, my job was to just walk around and take pictures. I spent quite a while in the butterfly house and this little friend landed on me more than once. I think he was attracted to my shiny ring! :)

There was a beautiful orchid blooming in the butterfly house.

I also spent some time with the penguins checking my email and getting on Pinterest!

Shopping For A Dress

The next big thing on my to do list for the wedding was taken care of yesterday...the dress!
One store had been recommended by several people, Madison Town and Country, so that is where I headed first with a good friend and her daughter. Upon entering the store, I told the girl what I was envisioning and she sent me to the "destination wedding" dresses. And in reality, my wedding will be the perfect destination.
I quickly picked out eight dresses to try on. One I didn't even make out of the dressing room in and the rest were easy to decide if they were going to make the short pile or not. I finally settled on three to choose from. This one I really liked on and it was a perfect vintage feel, but it was way too expensive and a little too formal for me. (The ribbon color would have been changed.)

This one made me look like a mermaid!

The bustline on this one just wasn't right for me.

This one made it to the last round, but I ultimately decided on another one.
(It is kind of hard to tell how it fits because it was a size 16!)

I love my dress! The fit is pretty good except for the length and the bust area. I will go back a few months before the wedding to have it altered. Until then, they are storing it for me and I can visit it any time. I want my dress to be a surprise, but I can tell you that it is a dress and that I did get a veil. I know that Candy will be glad to hear that!

After less than one hour, I walked out of the store, one check mark closer to my wedding! Thanks Julie and Millie for helping me with this special day!

By the way, Millie was planning our wedding as I was trying on dresses. Let's be thankful that eleven year olds are too young to marry!

This afternoon we headed to Mooresville to eat lunch and pay all the deposits. It is official now!

Happy 98th Birthday Grandmother!!

Today is my Grandmother's 98th birthday! We celebrated by taking her a piece of coconut cake and cheesecake after dinner. She enjoyed the visit and more importantly enjoyed my mom reading and counting her cards. She still remembered how many cards she received last year!

Happy Birthday Grandmother!

We Have A Date!!

I headed to Mooresville on Thursday to meet with a lady about doing my reception. I taught her granddaughter a few years ago so I was happy that she remembered me. After spending a few hours talking with her about my plans, I completely changed the date of the wedding! There were a few factors that were involved: price of flowers in November, the fact that we would have to rent heaters, the reception would be in a tent with sides which means no charm, etc. So basically, it would cost double to get married in November.
So officially we have a date. . . .
October 6, 2012.

I think Cary was a little shocked when I told him since we are moving it up by almost six weeks. But, the only things I have to take care of now are finding a dress, figuring out who is going to be in the wedding, decide who will be invited and do the invitations.

That's right, Dee will be taking care of EVERYTHING else! She will do the rehearsal, decorate the church, the reception (which will be a full meal complete with vintage China) and anything else I need her to do! I felt so good after I met with her and I know that she will do a wonderful job. It is going to be exactly what I have wished for! And the best part is that it is costing me much less than I ever anticipated.

So if you receive an invitation, I hope that you will be able to join us on this very special day at the Old Brick Church in Mooresville, AL!

Winter Wonderland??

This time last year, we were still off school after the huge snowstorm of 2011. The kids got a hint of snow on Thursday. We went out during after school care and I threatened to make them stay out until they built a snowman! By the time I left school, there was a dusting on my car.

Unfortunately, all of the snow was gone by the morning and we didn't even get a delayed opening!
Will this be all the snow we see this year?

Max has pretty much become a bed hog! This is what I woke up to on Friday morning. There was barely room for me to lay! I think he was hoping for a delayed opening as well!

And as typical in Alabama, the weather today is nice enough to go for a hike on the mountain!

Cave Adventures

Bryson had told me that he wanted to visit a cave so being the good aunt that I am, I arranged for that to happen. On Friday, we headed to Cathedral Caverns. When I first went to pick him up, he wasn't too sure that he really wanted to visit a cave. He thought that it might be scary. I think he was really glad that he decided to go because he had a great time and was very well behaved!

We got there in time to explore a little before our tour. We found a trail to walk on and even had Puppy pose for some pictures. And yes, Puppy went through the cave with us!

Bryson wanted me to take a picture of him showing how excited he was that we were finally in the cave!

Bryson's favorite parts were the Mystery River and the Frozen Waterfall. Although, I don't think he ever understood that it was not a real frozen waterfall, just rocks that looked like a frozen waterfall.

I told him that I wanted to take a picture of him in the cave and this is what I got!

The only time he got a little scared was when they turned all the lights off. I had to hold him and he is nearly as big as me! They did have cool lasers this time that Bryson thought were really fun so it was not totally dark for long.

He was so good that he got to choose a small pet to buy. He chose to get a wolf which he named Wolfie. We really need to work on being more original with names!

After the cave, we drove back to town and met Cary for lunch. After all that walking, Bryson was very hungry and ate every bite of his food. We then went to feed the ducks and fish at the park. Since you can no longer feed them bread, it costs a lot more to feed them. Bryson waited patiently for the quarters!

We saw a huge muskrat while we were waiting to get food! I wonder how he feels about not this new park diet!

We tried to get a picture of the three of us, but Bryson was being so, so silly! By the way, in the background you will see Huntsville's Circus School. They were juggling, had Chinese yo-yos and even a unicycle!

This is my favorite one. It looks like Bryson is kicking me in the face and Cary is just laughing about it!

We ended the day by visiting Granny for some chocolate ice cream!

I am thankful to be able to spend time with my favorite little boy!

Happy New Year!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous on New Years' Eve! Cary and I headed to Chattanooga for the day. We enjoyed lunch at our favorite restaurant, went through the aquarium and walked across the bridge to do a little shopping and walking. It was a lovely day!

2011 was full of adventures and surprises! I cannot wait to see what 2012 has in store for me!
